D’ya hear the one about how the prestigious university told a bunch of people that they got in and then they said, “Oh, snap. Backsies! We were playing. Never mind.”
That’s what happened at Carnegie-Mellon recently when they sent an acceptance e-mail to 800 applicants. Turns out there was a problem with the computer system and the e-mails were sent to 800 folks who didn’t get in.
Oh, did I mention it was the for master’s program in computer science.
If I was one of those 800, I think I’d be better off applying elsewhere. Just sayin.’
